Dress shopping with the posse

Today was the big bridesmaids dress shopping day. All my girls (Amy, Becca, Eireann, Julie, and Rob) and I went out in search of suitable bridesmaid attire. I decided to let everyone pick their own dress and as long as we got everyone in the same brand, we could get the same colour and it was all good. So off we went. I had a list on me of all the brands that I like the navy colour. We started at Jena's (where I got my dress) and everything was Romantic Bridal and life was good. Then off to Hamilton (bust). Then home to my house for lunch. Then Becca got the idea of going to Waterdown to check out some stores there. Then this one store had Alfred Angelos up the wazoo. Now half the girl's like Alfred Angelo best and half the girls like Romantic Bridal best and half the girls could go either way!

My call, of course. They keep making me decide stuff and stuff.

I'm committed

I went to the dress store by my house again and picked out a dress. Jenna the dress lady is nice, you can tell that she cares more about my happiness than making an extra buck. She's including everything; alterations, veil, headpiece, taxes. That means this brand new dress works out to be about the same as, or even cheaper than, that off the rack one I saw at Rainbow.

Sweetheart neckline, A-line cut, lace up the back; this dress has it all. Just wait, I am going to be the sexiest bride EVER.

Special thanks to Mom, who is financing the larger portion of the price.

I almost bought a dress yesterday

It was beautiful. Sweetheart neckline, gorgeous beadwork, lace up the back, a-line cut (very flattering on my figure). It was marked down to $699 and the lady said she'd be willing to go as low as $600 if we paid in full right away. We would have taken it if she'd included the alterations and a veil but she wouldn't go for it. I'm not made of money, lady. Money doesn't grow on trees. Insert other cliché expression having to do with money. I really want to have a gorgeous dress for the occassion but I don't want to have to live in a cardboard box on the street because I don't have the cash for rent and food.

I'll let them sweat a little and go back later.

Artsy Fartsy Centerpieces

We've decided that to go with the artsy "Starry Night" theme I'm going to paint small space-themed paintings and put them on little easels for the centre-pieces. Then there'll be some sort of flower arrangement with it or whatever (who cares, as long as I get my paintings). I painted a couple already but they turned out too dark. I'll fix those up then 16 or 17 more to go!

Flower Tolerance

The other day I went in a flower shop to look at flowers for the wedding while Adam was getting a haircut. I didn't get any clear ideas about flower arrangements but I did discover that the length of time I can spend in a flower shop without getting sniffles and a headache is slightly less than the time it takes to cut Adam's hair.
